Google Data-Saver App Gets Guest Mode, Daily Limit Features
Google's data-saving app Datally is getting even more useful.
First released in November, Datally is a free Android app that keeps track of your data usage on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis so you lot can avoid beingness throttled or hit with expensive data overages.
Now, earlier handing your phone over to a friend or family member to borrow, a new Guest Style feature will set a data limit for that person. That way, you can "stay in control when lending your phone," Datally Engineering Manager Shardul Deo wrote in a Mon blog post.
Plus, with Daily Limit, you can easily keep tabs on your own use. This feature lets you prepare the maximum amount of data you lot want to use per day, and provides warnings when you're nearing that mark. From there, you can opt to continue using data or block it for the rest of the mean solar day.
Another new feature chosen Unused Apps shows apps you oasis't used in a while that are eating up information, and lets y'all uninstall them with a unmarried tap. "For many people, 20 percent of mobile data is used in the groundwork by apps they haven't opened in over a month," Deo wrote.
When you're over your data limit, you can hop over to the Wi-Fi Map, which shows the location of all nearby Wi-Fi networks.
Deo said Datally users salvage 21 pct of their mobile information, on boilerplate. "That's like using data Monday to Thursday, and having Friday covered by Datally," he wrote.
