How To Wet Sand And Buff Clear Coat

Does anyone know how to fix cloudy clear coat. The base and top coat went on good but they clear coat ended up extremely cloudy even though it wasn't humid last night or extremely hot or cold.

Let it cure, then carefully wetsand with high grit and buff? Probably the only way you'll blend the edges of the repair too. In the future, it usually easiest to avoid a tape line and let the paint blend, then the clear blend a bit further, if not reclear the whole panel/tank.

That's what I did with the whole project but unfortunately I'm not skillful enough to avoid the overspray. The clear coat line I wasn't too worried about because I was going to wet sand and buff it later but I didn't know if the clear coat will get rid of the cloudiness once in cures because I've been fighting with the clear coat on a tank and on the fairing. Thank you for the tip though. I will just keep an eye on it for the next 24 hours.

Mine was way cloudier than that even after curing and it came up fine after a wet sand with 1200 grit, then 2000, then cutting compound and a polish. When you're sanding the masking line go real gentle on it, too hard and you can start peeling the clear off.

Thank you for the advice. This is the first time I'm doing this so I'm trying to make sure I do it right the first time. Hopefully I can get rid of the cloudiness the same way you did. Thank you

Where did you source the paint from? Ive been putting a similar repair off all summer haha.

Touch up direct. It seems like the color was fine but I have been battling the clear coat on both the Fairing and the tank that I repaired. I am currently wet sanding to tank now and it seems like everyone was correct that it polishes out. But it's just not easy to work with, I think there may have been something messed up with the clear coat nozzle or the straw that goes down into the can. Other than that, the paint is almost a perfect match and I say almost because I have no idea how to match the factory paint perfectly but it is close enough to look pretty damn good. Keep in mind I am a complete amateur with paint.
